Join the fun in this vibrant first installment of the new romantic comedy serial by best-selling author Leta Blake and newcomer Alice Griffiths!

After a drunken night of hot sex in Vegas, strangers Will Patterson and Dr. Patrick McCloud wake up married. A quickie divorce is the most obvious way out—unless you’re the heir of a staunchly Catholic mafia boss with a draconian position on the sanctity of marriage.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Will and Patrick don't like it, or each other, but they have to make the best of it until they can find another way out of their marriage. To ensure the trust fund Will's charitable foundation relies on isn't revoked by his mobster grandfather, he and Patrick travel to Will’s hometown of Healing, South Dakota, posing as a newlywed couple in the throes of true love at first sight.

Complicating their scheme are Will’s unresolved feelings for his all-too-recent ex-boyfriend Ryan, and Patrick’s desire to get back to the only thing that really matters to him in life neurosurgery. Will they fool everyone? Or will the mafia get wind that their marriage is a fake? Throw their simmering attraction into the mix and all bets are off!

Episode 1 of 6 in the Wake Up Married serial.

Will Patrick Wake Up Married edition by Leta Blake Alice Griffiths Literature Fiction eBooks

I've really enjoyed all of Leta Blake's books, so the fact that this didn't work for me is definitely a disappointment. I understand the concept of a serial, and even thought it could be a cool concept for this type of story, but I don't feel like this book delivers. By the end of this first installment I didn't like either character- Will is weak and selfish and Patrick is mean and arrogant. I'm all for well fleshed out characters with flaws... But these characters are ONLY flaws at this point and there needs to be some hope that they are decent people (or at least a better explanation for why they're not) in order for a reader to connect with them and care about what happens to them. Additionally, I felt like nearly the entire installment was a series of pointless filler scenes. Not much happened that works to propel the story forward. It's frustrating because I want to love this story and these characters the same way I have loved Leta Blakes other works. Ultimately, I come away from this story wondering, how many more installments will I have to purchase in order to get to a place where I can actually root for these characters? Will I be $15 in before there is even a glimmer of hope for Patrick and Will? I just don't know... I'm going to take a day or two to decide if I want to give this serial another chance and move on hoping the second installment will actually be worth the time and money.

Will Patrick Wake Up Married edition by Leta Blake Alice Griffiths Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Lots of potential but a bit of an awkward start.

I've owned the first three book in this serial forever but when I got a chance to review the whole series for the authors, I decided to take the plunge and read the whole thing back to back. I honestly struggle with the serial format, so reading it novel-style is much more my thing.

First of all, I wasn't expecting third person, present tense, which is always a really jarring writing style for me. Everything present tense starts off irking me, but I'm hoping I get more used to it as I go along.

I absolutely love the enemies-to-lovers (though they certainly consummated that marriage... HARD) format. I have a real weakness for a love that grows out of nothing and over a long period of time, and so I can't wait to see how this relationship turns around.

Patrick is more than a little bit of an ass, but I think he'll grow on me. I like that he isn't like other characters that I'm used to reading. It's refreshing, honestly.

Can't wait to see where Episode 2 takes me!
I could not believe I actually bought the second book, and the next four, after reading a clearly preposterous and somewhat off-putting first installment. I was not taken aback by the insta-romance which resulted in the marriage of Will and Patrick--hey, it was Vegas and they were drunk. But I could not wrap my head around Will's family (very stereotypical Italian-American), where they lived (South Dakota), or how they lived their lives (you simply would not believe it).

Then I got hooked on the third in the series, and when Patrick emerged as a major human being, this series became almost thrilling. I liked Will (whom I had a hard time envisioning), but I loved Patrick (who could easily be played by Neil Patrick Harris if this were made into a movie). There is a depth to him that one would not expect as the books progress, and the last two are absolutely amazing.

You have to read them all, but you will be thrilled by the time you get to the end.
Will & Patrick Wake Up Married is something I've read a long time ago, and I've decided it's time to post my opinion on the first book in the Wake Up Married series.

I'm not sure whether to start with the plot or the characters.

Obviously, it was the plot - as much of it that was shown in the blurb - that grabbed my attention and made me get the e-book. I just thought that it sounded like a really funny situation, and I ended up being right.

The thing I remember most about this book was its humor. I can't quote a funny like or a joke from it, but I remember laughing while reading this book.

And it wasn't only due to its premise; it was also because of the characters.

However, it wasn't all fun.

While there's humor in this book, you also get some more serious situations that make you symphatize with the characters. They aren't just two goofballs, spewing one one-liner after the other. They make you feel for them - along with laughing at them - and they make you think what you'd do if you found yourself in their situation.

All in all, it's a book that left such a strong impression on me that even though I read it a long time ago, I didn't need to re-read it to write this review.

I'd recommend Will & Patrick Wake Up Married to anyone in need of a few laughs.
3.5 stars

Yeah, this is fun. But underneath all the fun I’m sensing some deep emotions, which hasn’t broke to the surface yet, but I can feel it’s there. Both men have a troubled past, and once they reach the point where they will be able to share their demons with each other, it will be explosive.

This first installment is basically an intro to the series. Despite the hot Vegas night they shared together (which we don’t see unfortunately, but that’s to be expected since the characters themselves don’t remember it, only some flashes here and there), the MC’s don’t like each other too much, but that can be chalked up to their unexpected and unwanted nuptials.

Patrick is not really likable, but as we established before, those are exactly my type of characters. Weee! ;D The writing is great, though at times I felt the events were too fabricated and convenient.

There is no on-page sexual activity, but there is tension. And I expect slow-burn in the future installments. They might get down and dirty, but the feelings will come later I think. I hope! Lol
It’s a promising series, and I think the content might be more heavy than I initially expected, but it’s still mostly fun.
